Bright Star Counselling is a clinic dedicated to providing counseling and psychological support to children and their families. The clinic specializes in treating children for anxiety and stress, by provide evidenced based therapy built on current child development practices, including art, play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. It is the mission of the clinic to empower families to learn coping skills, build resilience and become stronger as a family to overcome stress and anxiety. The clinic is located in beautiful Port Moody/Anmore BC, nestled in the forests above Buntzen Lake.

Bright Star Counselling is currently looking for a child counsellor with a minimum of a Master degree, registered with a professional college/organization. The candidate would join the busy clinic that is currently staffed by one registered social worker. The position is for 1 or 2 days ( Mondays and Wednesdays) a week to provide private counselling to children and their families for a variety of childhood anxiety and behavioral issues/disorders.

The work is based on referrals that come through the clinic. The hours may be less to begin, as the candidate builds up their practice.

The home based clinic has a waiting room, and a large, bright treatment room to meet with families. The room includes use of all therapy toys, swing, sand tray and art supplies.

Computer, fax /printer, office booking software, email and confidential software to to record session notes and financials are included. Business cards and phone line included. Weekly cleaning is also included.

Opportunity to bill under supervisor and access to supervision is an option, as is being part of monthly supervision meetings.

The ideal candidate has a passion for treating children, creative and a self starter. This is a great opportunity for a practitioner would like to work in private practice, without the admin work, advertising and cost of building a counselling practice alone.
