Private & Independent School Support Services

Are you a private or independent school? Have you been looking for school support services that will help enhance your students' well-being?
 

We have partnerships with various schools in the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, and Tri-cities to provide in-school counselling, assessment, and social emotional support tailored for the unique needs of students and teachers. Our therapists at Bright Star Counselling are dedicated to helping children, their families, and their communities find their way to thriving academically, socially, and emotionally.
 

When to Seek School Support Services

Students at private and independent schools may benefit from receiving school support services if they've been showing the signs of academic, behavioural, social, or emotional challenges. Knowing what these signs are early on will allow your school to identify and then provide students with the necessary support plan that best suits their unique needs. ​

Below are some key signs that students may need additional support services:

  • Falling behind in lessons

  • Poor grades despite having good grades previously

  • Outbursts and similar classroom disruptions 

  • Difficulty with new school adjustments

  • Difficulty making or keeping friends at school

  • Persistent sadness or anxiety about school

  • Social withdrawal or isolation from the other students

  • Refusal to attend school

  • Learning differences and developmental delays involving math, writing, or reading

  • Struggles with motor skills such as coordination and handwriting

  • Bullying on either side (victim or perpetrator)

  • Reduced academic function and/or significant upset at school

How We Support Private & Independent Schools

  • Personalized Strategies: we provide classroom wide-support and teacher training to augment classroom strategies.

  • Professional Plans: From workshops for students or professional learning days for teachers to individualized students planning, we develop a student support plan designed to meet the unique needs of each school.

  • Specialized Services: We offer several ways to best support students, including in-school occupational therapy, speech therapy, and behaviour support, as well as mental health counselling and assessment and new students/kindergarten intake assessments.

  • Direct Billing: we are able to bill students' families directly for services.
