We are passionate about providing accessible, high-quality pediatric counselling to all children and families.
We offer reduced-rate counselling provided by our student therapists who are completing their clinical practicum for a Master’s in Counselling Psychology or a Master’s in Social Work. All student therapists are closely supervised by a senior therapist, and your family’s treatment plan is reviewed weekly with the supervising clinician.

Forms of Payment
We accept payments in the form of credit card, debit card, cheque, e-transfer, and payments via Square terminal.
Coverage Details
We accept families who qualify for First Nations Health Authority funding. We are also eligible for autism funding. We are also mental health providers for variety clubs, school boards, MCFD, CYMH, Centre for Ability, and other private contractors.
Bright Star Counselling is covered under most extended health coverages. Please enquire with your human resource department or employer. You may self-refer or have your family physician refer you. You will be issued a receipt after every session.
We now direct bill to certain insurance companies. Please contact us for more information.
Social work services are considered medical expenses and can be used for tax credits.
Tara Worth offers free consultations for youths ages 12+, and Sonja Friedland offers free consultations for children ages 11 and under.

Cancellation Policy
We require over 24 hours notice for cancellations. Cancellations must be made during our business hours, as we do not check voicemail and emails outside of business hours.
Sessions cancelled with more than 24 hours notice will not be billed for.
All cancellations made less than 24 hours are subject to a full charge for the session. As our clinic has a long waitlist, we ask that you cancel greater than 24 hours in advance so we can see other clients in need.
For a cancellation to be confirmed, it must be made during Bright Star’s business hours as we do not check voicemails and emails outside of these hours. If you do not receive confirmation by phone or email, then your session has not been cancelled. Please note that our offices are closed on Sundays. If you have a Monday appointment (Tuesday if Monday is a stat), you must cancel by business hours on Saturday.
