My name is Sheila (she/her). I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counselling and I am currently pending registration as a Clinical Counsellor with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where children and caregivers can feel supported in their healing and growth.
For over six years, I have worked as a Behaviour Interventionist, providing therapy to young children with autism while working alongside their families. This experience has given me a strong foundation in child development, individualized intervention, and the importance of caregiver involvement. Alongside this, I have clinical counselling experience supporting women impacted by domestic and sexual trauma, often intertwined with cultural and family trauma. As someone who is Afghan and Syrian and comes from a Muslim background, I deeply value the role of culture and identity in the healing process. I strive to ensure my clients feel seen and heard in their cultural experiences, and that their stories are honoured with respect and care.
In my counselling practice, I take a trauma-informed approach and draw from narrative therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I emphasize the importance of non-physical connection and attunement in building trust and safety, while also offering practical tools to foster growth. I am continually inspired by the resilience I see in children and caregivers, and I am passionate about walking alongside them as they strengthen resilience, reauthor their stories, and move forward with clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.
