"There is no greater gift than giving to our kids what we may not have received as children. It shows the love and dedication we have put into providing what we ourselves once lacked. And it is the most heartfelt gesture we can give"
Our work at Brightstart also focuses on supporting parents to discover meaningful ways of being in their calling as nurturing parents, as partners, and as a family. At times, parents may struggle with their own past, unhelpful patterns, or challenges in finding peaceful regulation of their own emotions. With
thirty years of experience, I help parents approach these experiences with wisdom and compassion. At our clinic, we do not leave parents behind; we walk alongside them, offering support for their own mindful journeys as well. I’m here with you.
As a parent my self, I understand Families are where we begin to feel and understand love, bonding and connection, and belonging. The family is the blueprint that helps us recognize our worth and our place in the world. For both children and adults, these bonds are central to how we make sense of our lives.
Therapy is important work and finding the right fit matters. Deciding to reach out for help can bring uncertainty. I hold a degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Clinical Counsellor and a second Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, the latest from Yorkville University, and I have 30 years of experience. Through therapy, your family will learn essential coping skills, strengthen relationships, and grow together. Your child will develop lifelong strategies to navigate challenges, and your family will thrive.
As a therapist, I hold the belief that every child and family must always be seen within their full context. My approach is holistic: I take into account family, relationships, and specific life events in a safe and non-judgmental space. I strive to provide a collaborative and compassionate environment, guided by evidence-based methodology, where you can learn, heal, and gain insight. This process is designed to support a meaningful family dynamic.
I use a variety of evidence-based approaches depending on the situation and the unique needs of my clients. These may include Emotion Focused Family and Couples Therapy (EFFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Sand Play Therapy, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Goldman-Coppell’s Counseling Methodology I & II, and other trauma-informed modalities. I work with issues such as social relationships, trauma, PTSD, anger management, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, addiction, alcohol and gambling addictions, and other addictions.
In my free time, I’m proudly a bit of a nerd. I love reading and learning more about human behavior, trauma, and different therapeutic methodologies—just for fun! I also enjoy practicing yoga, life music and going out for dinner with friends.
Outside of the clinic, I am a mom and part of a family that also includes a lovely rescue chihuahua, so I can truly empathize with the journey that brought you here.
