Hi, I’m Gurman (she/her), and I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor who loves to work with children and their families. I hold a Master of Counselling Psychology from City University and am registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

I believe children are incredibly wise, even when their behaviour feels confusing or overwhelming. In my work, I look beyond the surface of anxiety, shutdown, perfectionism, or outbursts to understand what a child’s nervous system and heart might be trying to communicate. My approach is warm, relational, and attachment-based. I focus first on building safety and trust, because meaningful growth happens when a child feels deeply seen and understood. In sessions, you’ll often see me sitting on the floor, engaging in play, following a child’s lead, and gently weaving in emotional language, regulation tools, and coping skills through games, sandtray, storytelling, and creative expression. My background as a Behaviour Interventionist also informs my work, giving me a strong understanding of executive functioning, behavioural planning, and how to support children with attention, impulse control, and emotional regulation challenges in practical, strengths-based ways.

I also work closely with caregivers/parents. I believe therapy is most effective when families feel empowered. I offer practical tools, insight into emotional development, and guidance to strengthen the parent-child relationship outside of sessions.

In addition to my clinical work, I serve as a school-based counsellor, where I support students through anxiety, peer challenges, emotional regulation, and crisis situations. This experience allows me to thoughtfully connect what happens in the therapy room with what children experience at school and home. My goal is to create a space where children feel safe to explore their feelings and where caregivers feel supported navigating the complexities of parenting in today’s world. It is a privilege to walk alongside families during vulnerable seasons, and I look forward to helping your child build confidence, resilience, and stronger connection.
