Services / Specialties:

Early Childhood, Families

My name is Farinaz (She/Her), and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, where my graduate research focused on cognitive behavioural intervention for children with ADHD. I have also completed formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Play Therapy (CBPT) and EMDR Basic Training.

My practice focuses on supporting young children and their families through evidence-based, developmentally appropriate care. Grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Play Therapy (CBPT), I integrate cognitive and behavioural interventions with play and creative therapeutic experiences to help children strengthen emotional regulation, develop coping skills, and build practical strategies they can apply in everyday life.

I believe play is the natural language of children. Through play, creativity, and symbolic expression, children communicate thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and experiences that are often difficult to express verbally. Working within a child's natural language allows therapy to support emotional processing, cognitive development, and meaningful behavioural change.

Alongside my counselling work, I have experience as a Support Worker/ Behaviour Interventionist in childcare settings, supporting autistic children within classroom environments. Working directly with children in their everyday learning environment has given me valuable insight into how they interact with peers, respond to routines, manage transitions, and navigate daily challenges. This perspective helps me develop treatment goals and interventions that are practical, individualized, and closely connected to each child's real-world experiences.

I view parents as essential partners in the therapeutic process. I work collaboratively with caregivers to better understand each child's developmental history, family relationships, and presenting concerns while providing psychoeducation, parent consultation, and practical strategies that support progress across home, school, and everyday environments.

I provide counselling in both English and Farsi (Persian) and welcome Farsi-speaking children and families while also supporting clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. My practice is guided by evidence-based care, ongoing professional development, and collaboration with children, families, educators, and other professionals to provide developmentally responsive and individualized care.
