My name is Caitlan Petruk, I am a student intern completing a Master of Counselling through City University Vancouver. I hold a diploma in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Care Counselling. I bring over 20 years of experience supporting children, youth, and families in a variety of settings, including childcare, hospital programs, hospice care, elementary schools, and nonprofit organizations.
I am passionate about supporting children, youth, and families as they navigate life’s challenges and build on their strengths. My counselling approach is person-centred and integrative, grounded in the belief that a strong therapeutic relationship is essential for meaningful change. I draw from approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, and play-based interventions to support individuals in developing coping skills, increasing self-understanding, and moving toward greater emotional wellbeing.
I have a particular interest and experience in supporting children, youth, and families navigating grief and loss, trauma, life transitions, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence (including ADHD and autism), emotional regulation, behavioural challenges, and parenting concerns.
I am an LGBTQ2S+ affirming counsellor and welcome individuals and families from diverse cultures, identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences. I strive to create a compassionate, safe, and collaborative space where clients feel heard, valued, and supported.
